Men's Tennis Defeated by No. 4 Chicago

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's tennis team was defeated 9-0 by the University of Chicago on Saturday inside the Markin Center.

The visiting Maroons are ranked No. 4 in the nation and No. 1 in the region. Kalamazoo entered the match ranked No. 29 in the nation and No. 7 in the region.

Chicago swept the three doubles points with an 8-4 win at one, 8-6 at two, and 8-7(5) at three.

The Maroons clinched the match with wins at three and four singles.

All six singles matches were competitive with the Maroons winning:

1: 7-5, 6-4
2: 3-6, 7-5, 6-1
3: 7-6(2), 6-2
4: 7-5, 6-3
5: 6-0, 7-6(3)
6: 6-2, 5-7, 10-5

Kalamazoo is back in action at home Sunday as the Hornets are scheduled to take on No. 11 Kenyon inside Markin at 2 p.m.
