Men's Tennis Team, Individuals End 2021 in National Rankings

The Kalamazoo College men's tennis team and two individuals ended the 2021 season in the Oracle ITA Division III Men's National and Regional Rankings as released by the ITA on June 15.

As a team, Kalamazoo finished the year ranked No. 20 in the nation and fifth in the Central Region. The Hornets were 10-1 overall and won the MIAA championship with a 5-0 league record. Kalamazoo won the MIAA Tournament to earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA III Championships, where the Hornets defeated Luther in the second round before falling to WashU in the third round. The national ranking is the team's highest since 2010 when the Hornets were No. 17.

In singles, Ian Yi was ranked No. 30 in the nation and 10th in the region. Daniel Henry was ranked No. 22 in the region. Yi finished the year with an 8-3 overall record while earning All-American honors with a first-round win at the NCAA III Singles Championships. Henry finished the season with a 6-1 record while going 6-0 at No. 2 singles for the Hornets.

The doubles team of Yi and Henry came in at No. 25 in the national rankings and sixth in the region. The duo went 8-1 at No. 1 doubles including 5-0 in league play. 

Both Yi and Henry also earned All-MIAA First Team honors this spring.
