Demarest leads way for men's cross country

SOMERS, Wis. – The Kalamazoo College men's cross country team began the 2016 season Saturday at the Midwest Open.

David Demarest set the pace for Kalamazoo with a 66th place finish and a time of 27:53.

Crossing the finish line second for the Hornets was Andrew Kaylor who recorded a time of 28:53.

Jackson Kelly, Cory Gyulveszi and Caleb Patton rounded out the top five for the Hornets with times of 29:12, 29:15 and 29:22, respectively.

Kalamazoo has two weeks before its next meet. The Hornets will travel to Alma for the MIAA Jamboree on Sept. 24.
