Kalamazoo College's Emma Patrash and Taylor Clements were recognized as MIAA Players of the Week on Monday.
Patrash, a senior from Buffalo Grove, Ill. (Stevenson HS), was named MIAA Player of the Week after hitting .636 (7-for-11) with two doubles, three runs scored and three RBIs in five games for the Hornets last week. She went 3-for-4 at the plate Saturday with a double and stolen base in each game, and knocked in three runs as Kalamazoo opened MIAA play with a sweep of Albion, 10-2 and 9-1.
Patrash is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in her career.
Clements, a senior from Kalamazoo, Mich. (Comstock HS), was named MIAA Pitcher of the Week after posting a 1.43 earned run average over 14-2/3 innings pitched for the week. She fired a three-hit complete game, striking out four, as the Hornets completed a sweep of MIAA rival Albion with a 9-1 victory Saturday. Earlier in the week, she struck out six and did not allow an earned run in an extra-inning loss to Wellesley, Mass.
It's the first time Clements has been named Player of the Week in her career.
Kalamazoo (5-7, 2-0 MIAA) returns to action Tuesday at Alma College.
