Softball drops doubleheader to St. Mary's

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College softball team, looking for two important wins Wednesday afternoon, came up short in its doubleheader with St. Mary's College as the Belles took both games.

St. Mary's took game one, 1-0, and game two, 7-1.

Game One

In a game dominated by pitching, St. Mary's made the lone breakthrough in the top of the fourth as a double to right center scored the Belles' Caitlyn Migawa.

Megan Malish did her best to jumpstart the Hornets' offense going 2-for-3 in the game.

Erin DuRoss pitched another strong outing for K throwing a complete game, while walking just one and striking out two.

Game Two

St. Mary's took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first in game two and the Belles slowly added to their lead over the course of the game.

They added two runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings before Kalamazoo broke through in the seventh to get themselves on the board.

DuRoss singled to left field with the bases loaded driving in Dana Page for the Hornets' lone run on the day.

Nori Seita led the Hornets' offense in game two going 2-for-3.

The Hornets conclude MIAA action this Saturday when they welcome Alma College to Kalamazoo. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m.
