KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Playing its final home series of the year, the Kalamazoo College softball team hoped to upset nationally ranked Alma College, but the Hornets fell just short.

Kalamazoo fell to the Scots in 10 innings in game one, 3-2, and 12-3 in game two.

Game One

With both teams' aces taking the rubber, each team was held scoreless until the 10th inning of game one.

Alma struck in the top of the tenth for three runs capped by a two-run home run by Katie McClure.

Hardly rattled, Kalamazoo answer back right away in the bottom of the tenth when Paige Maguire hit a two-run shot herself with zero outs.

Dana Page singled up the middle putting the tying run on base for the Hornets with one out in the tenth, but K's final two batters were retired.

Erin DuRoss threw all ten innings for the Hornets giving up just three hits and one walk. She struck out seven Scots.

Game Two

With rain coming down steadily, Alma jumped out to a 4-0 lead after three innings, but once again Kalamazoo didn't go without a fight.

The Hornets struck for three runs in the top of the fourth courtesy of an RBI single from Nori Seita and an RBI double down the line from Page.

That's as close as K would get, though.

The Scots tacked on four runs in both the fourth and fifth, shortening the game to five innings.

Three different Hornets recorded hits in game two.

Kalamazoo concludes its season tomorrow when the team travels to Manchester for a doubleheader beginning at noon.
