Softball splits doubleheader at Manchester

Erin DuRoss playing softball.

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. - The Kalamazoo College softball team split a non-conference doubleheader at Manchester University on Sunday.

Game One

After falling behind 1-0 in the third, Kalamazoo put up three runs in the top of the fifth highlighted by Erin DuRoss' 2-run double. The host Spartans tried to make a comeback with a run in the seventh but DuRoss eventually shut the door to secure the win.

DuRoss allowed just six hits in seven innings while striking out seven for the complete game win. The junior also had a pair of hits including the 2-run double.

Dana Page and Rachel Epstein each went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles.

Game Two

Manchester's three run second inning proved to be enough as the Spartans won the second game, 3-2.

Kalamazoo was held scoreless until the top of the seventh when the Hornets pushed two runs across, but left the tying run on second when the final out was made.

Dana Page, Briana Huisken and Paige Maguire each had two hits in the game. Nori Seita and Rachel Epstein each had a double.
