Softball Falls to Olivet, Adrian on Friday

Game 1

Kalamazoo dropped the first game 10-9 to Olivet in a close battle. 

Olivet led 7-0 after the first inning before the Hornets came up with nine runs over the next five innings to take a 9-7 lead into the bottom of the seventh, giving Olivet the chance to rally. The Comets scored two runs off an RBI double and a reach on a wild pitch to end the game. 

The Hornets tallied 15 hits to Olivet's five, but suffered from five errors while the Comets had four. 

Lucy Hart and Grace Peterson each recorded three hits for Kalamazoo. Hart crossed home plate three times in the contest and hit her first triple of the season. 

Kelsey Diekman had two hits including a double in the fifth inning. 

Sam Moss, Sammi Luzadre, and Peterson each registered two RBIs. 

Game 2

Adrian scored in three of the first seven innings to lead 5-0 going into the bottom of the seventh. Kalamazoo rallied behind four hits in the inning to score two runs, highlighted by a single out to left field by Keelin McManus to score two runners on base. Adrian was able to end the inning with two runners left on base to end the game. 

Lucy Hart led the Hornets with three hits. Lizzy Rottenberk and Keelin McManus each had two hits, McManus driving in a pair of runs. 

The Hornets are scheduled to be back in action tomorrow (April 10) at Saint Mary's for games against the Belles and Alma.
