Rottenberk Throws No-Hitter as Softball Sweeps Olivet

OLIVET, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College softball team swept a doubleheader at Olivet on Saturday, winning 6-3 and 12-0. Lizzy Rottenberk threw a no-hitter in game two, the second in program history.

Game One

Kalamazoo won the opener 6-3. Kalamazoo trailed 1-0 after three, but scored three in the fifth and three in the sixth. Olivet scored three in the bottom of the sixth.

Kalamazoo had nine hits to Olivet's seven.

Lucy Hart, Kelsey Diekman and Amy McNutt each had two hits. Hart and Diekman each had a double. McNutt hit a three-run homer in the sixth.

Sam Moss earned the win, striking out five while walking none.

Game Two

Lizzy Rottenberk threw the second no-hitter in program history in a 12-0 win in game two. Rottenberk faced the minimum 15 batters over five innings, allowing just one walk with three strikeouts. The second-inning walk was followed up by a line-out double play to end the inning.

After a scoreless first inning, Kalamazoo scored multiple runs in the second, third and fourth innings. The Hornets had 12 hits in the game.

Lucy Hart had two hits with a double and three RBIs. Amy McNutt also had two hits with a double and two RBIs. Sam Moss had two hits. Bella Caza had a double. 

Kalamazoo returns home to face Saint Mary's on Wednesday, April 27 at 3 p.m.
