Simon leads Women's Basketball to road win

MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team picked up its first win of the season on Tuesday night, defeating Manchester 64-52 on the road.

The Hornets trailed after one quarter, but jumped out to a nine point halftime lead after outscoring Manchester 18-8 in the second quarter. K stretched the lead to 16 midway through third and never looked back, leading for the remainder of the game.

For the game, Kalamazoo shot 43.8 percent from the floor and had 16 total assists in a well-rounded offensive performance while holding Manchester to 34.5 percent shooting overall.

Danielle Simon was all over the court for the Hornets finishing with 18 points on 8 of 12 shooting, seven rebounds, and three steals while applying pressure to the Manchester guards throughout the game.

Alayna Tomlinson and Emily Kozal each had 10 points and four rebounds while Libby Munoz chipped in six points and five assists off the bench.

Nicole Weaver led Manchester with 15 points.

The Hornets will travel next to Anderson (Ind.) on Thursday for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.
