Women's Basketball defeats Anderson

ANDERSON, Ind. – The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team posted its second road win in a row, defeating Anderson 65-53 on Thursday night.

Kalamazoo jumped ahead early, taking an 8-0 lead and outscoring the Ravens 18-5 in the first quarter. The Hornets continued to apply heavy defensive pressure throughout the first half and headed into halftime leading 26-17.

K never relinquished its lead, stretching the advantage to 16 points in the fourth quarter. Anderson connected on a couple shots from three point range late to cut into the deficit, but the Hornets were never truly threatened and closed out the game at the free throw line.

For the game, Kalamazoo shot 39.3 percent from the field and 31.3 percent from behind the three point line while forcing Anderson into 22 turnovers. The Ravens shot 36.2 percent from the floor overall with Hannah Dunn leading the team with 14 points.

Libby Munoz scored a game high 17 points off the bench for the Hornets while Emily Kozal and Isabelle Clark also hit double figures with 12 and 13 points, respectively. Danielle Simon continued to pack the stat sheet for K with nine points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists in 34 minutes of action.

Kalamazoo will again be on the road Sunday as they travel to Concordia for a 3 p.m. game.
