FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.- The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team dropped its first of two games at the Cruzin' Classic in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. with a 66-55 defeat to Central College (Iowa).

The Hornets opened the game shooting well from the floor, hitting 44 percent of their shots in the first quarter to lead 16-12.

K cooled off in the second and third quarters, shooting less then 20 percent and scoring a total of 17 points. Central scored 17 points in each of those quarters to build a lead heading into the fourth. The Hornets outscored Central in the final period, but it was too late to shrink the deficit.

Central finished with four players in double figures while the Kalamazoo offense was led by Emily Kozal who scored a game high 22 points and Danielle Simon who added 17 points and eight rebounds. Mya Gough led the Hornets on the boards with nine rebounds.

K will wrap up its Florida game schedule with a 10 a.m. game against Washington College on Wednesday, December 20th.
