Women's Basketball falls to Oberlin

OBERLIN, Ohio – The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team was defeated 67-36 by Oberlin in nonconference action on Wednesday night.

The Hornets trailed early in the game, but fought back to take the lead in the opening minutes of the second quarter behind 11 first half points from Emily Kozal. A 7-2 run by Oberlin saw them reclaim the lead and head into halftime leading by a score of 32-25.

The Yeowomen picked up where they left off after the break with an 18 point third quarter before holding Kalamazoo to two points in the final quarter to seal the win.

For the game the Hornets shot 21.2 percent from the field and 11.1 percent from behind the arc while Oberlin hit 39.4 percent of their shots from the floor and 26.9 percent from three point range.

Emily Kozal led K with 13 points while Mya Gough also scored in double figures with 10 points. Georgie Andrews and Danielle Simon each grabbed six rebounds for Kalamazoo and Simon also chipped in five assists.

Alex Stipano led all scorers with 23 points for Oberlin.

Kalamazoo will return to MIAA action on Saturday, January 27th with a home contest against Alma at 3 p.m.
