Women's Basketball Falls on Road

ALBION, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team fell on the road at Albion College Saturday afternoon by a score of 75-45.

Albion jumped out to a 9-1 lead to begin the game, but the Hornets, behind six points from Kaelyn Arlington, rallied to go on a 12-9 run and faced a manageable 18-13 deficit at the end of the first quarter.

The Britons took control of the game in the second quarter, however, outscoring Kalamazoo 21-10 and taking a 39-23 lead into the halftime break. Albion would maintain its double-digit lead for the remainder of the game.

Arlington led the way for Kalamazoo with 16 points and added six rebounds. Laila Vincent chipped in 12 points and a game-high 16 rebounds, while Kaytlyn Tidey paced the Hornets with four assists.  

Albion made 30-66 shots from the field for 46%, while Kalamazoo managed 18-55 (33%). The home squad sank just 5 of its 18 shots from beyond the three-point arc (28%), but the Hornets were ice-cold from distance, making just one of their 14 attempts (7%). The Britons also had the advantages in rebounds (46-36), assists (21-9), and steals (13-4), but Kalamazoo did have a pair of blocked shots to Albion's one.

Next up for the Hornets (3-16, 1-9 MIAA) is a 7 p.m. home game Monday night against Calvin.
