Women's Basketball Drops Home Opener to Anderson

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team lost its home opener 109-66 to Anderson University Saturday afternoon.

Kalamazoo scored the first four points of the game and was up 13-9 midway through the first quarter. Anderson finished the quarter on a 15-2 run to lead 24-15 after ten minutes of play. The visiting Ravens outscored Kalamazoo 36-23 in the second quarter to take a 60-38 lead into halftime.

Anderson had a 12-point advantage in the third (24-12) and a nine-point advantage (25-16) in the fourth, leading to the 109-66 final.

Anderson shot 48.3 percent overall while sinking 23-of-49 3-pointers. Kalamazoo shot 34.6 percent overall while making 5-of-8 3's. The Hornets were 25-of-30 at the free throw line compared to 2-of-9 by the Ravens. Kalamazoo held a 15-11 advantage in second-chance points, but the Hornets were outscored in the paint (34-14), off turnovers (42-6), and on fast breaks (21-10).

Kaelyn Arlington recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Macy Ivins scored 14 points off the bench with four rebounds while shooting 5-for-7 overall and 3-for-3 from behind the arc.

Jaelyn Horn made 9-of-10 free throws to finish with 11 points and five rebounds.

Sara English scored nine points with five rebounds. Kylah Davis added six points with three rebounds and four assists.

Kalamazoo takes on Manchester at home next Saturday, Nov. 26 at 1 p.m.
