Women's Lacrosse wins 15-4 at Illnois Tech

CHICAGO, Ill. - The Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse team won 15-4 at Illinois Tech on Saturday in its first road game of the season.

Illinois Tech struck first, but the Hornets scored 20 seconds later and would never trail again in the contest. Sam Jacobsen scored twice and Rachel Madar completed a hat trick before Illinois Tech scored again with just over two minutes remaining in the first half. Lilly Baumann answered right back with two goals in the final 90 seconds of the half to send Kalamazoo into the break leading 8-2.

K continued to apply pressure offensively as the Hornets scored four goals in the first 10 minutes of the second period and never looked back. Baumann, Jacobsen, and Madar each added to their goal scoring totals and Amanda Moss and Jordan Reichenbach chipped in goals as well.

For the game the Hornets put 23 shots on goal compared to just seven for the Redhawks and K also held a 14-6 advantage in draw controls.

Rachel Madar led the team with six goals and one assist while Sam Jacobsen had three goals and three assists and Lilly Baumann also finished with three goals to go along with two assists. Amanda Moss dished out three assists and also scored a goal while picking up a team-high four ground balls.

Katie Johnson made three saves in goal for K.

The Hornets will travel next to Indiana Tech for a 5:00 p.m. game on Tuesday, March 6.
