Women's Lacrosse takes down Cleary 18-3

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse team ran away from Cleary with a 18-3 victory on Thursday night.

The Hornets scored four goals in the first ten minutes of the contest and never looked back. Cleary got its first goal ten minutes in, but the Hornets then scored seven unanswered goals to close out the half and take control of the game. Rachel Madar and Amanda Moss each completed a hat trick before halftime and finished the game with four goal apiece.

The Hornets picked up right where they left off in the second half, scoring seven more goals, including a second half hat trick by Caroline Mundell. Jenna Wolf closed out the scoring for K in the closing moments.

Kalamazoo outshot Cleary 24-13 and held a 20-10 advantage in ground balls.

Madar, Moss, and Mundell each scored four goals for the Hornets. Moss, the reigning MIAA Defensive Player of the Week led K with three caused turnovers and Madar had a team-high five draw controls. Lilly Baumann was also strong with two goals, four ground balls, four draw controls, and two caused turnovers.

Katie Johnson made six saves in goal to pick up the win for K.

The Hornets will go on the road next to take on Montevallo on March 22 at 4 p.m.
