Caroline Mundell playing lacrosse.

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse team fell 15-13 to the University of Montevallo in the first game of its spring break trip on Thursday afternoon.

The game was a back and forth affair with each team scoring within the first two minutes of the contest. Midway through the first half Montevallo led 7-4, but three goals in three minutes by the Hornets leveled the score. At the half, Montevallo led K by a score of 10-8.

Rachel Madar struck in the first 30 seconds of the second half for Kalamazoo to draw the Hornets to within one. A six minute scoring drought for both teams ensued before Lilly Baumann broke through for K to tie the game 10-10. Twice the Hornets scored to take the lead only to concede less than a minute later. With just over six minutes remaining, the Hornets trailed by just one goal, but they were unable to find an equalizer and Montevallo put the game away with a goal with under two minutes remaining.
