Women's Lacrosse Defeated at Albion

ALBION, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse team lost 22-14 at Albion on Tuesday. 

Albion scored the first two goals of the contest before the Hornets got on the board with a goal from Rose Bogard. It was a high-scoring half for both teams despite the Brits outscoring Kalamazoo 14-8. The Hornets scored back-to-back goals on three separate occasions in the half. Kalamazoo was able to tie the game at 3-3 with goals from Hannah Heeren and Leah Tardiff before Albion went on to four straight goals in two minutes. The Hornets scored five more times in the half but still fell short 8-14 at halftime. Heeren and Bogard contributed three goals each in the half.  

Kalamazoo's Rachel Madar scored first to start the second half, followed up by another goal at 25:04. Heeren kept her hot streak going with back-to-back goals at the 20-minute mark. Albion still managed to outscore the Hornets 5-1 in the last 17 minutes to seal the win. Madar scored three of Kalamazoo's six goals in the final 30 minutes. 

The Hornets outshot Albion 40-38, tying their season-high number of shots attempted. They held a 32-26 advantage in shots on goal over the Brits, and won 17 draw controls. 

Hannah Heeren led Kalamazoo with five goals scored on 12 shots. 

Rachel Madar totaled four goals and won a team-high 14 draw controls, one short of tying her season-high. 

Rose Bogard had three goals while Leah Tardiff scored two. Each of the top four scorers for the Hornets also collected two ground balls. 

The Hornets are scheduled to play at Alma on April 3 at 1 p.m. for their next game.
