Women's Lacrosse Seniors Honor Most Valuable Professors

The seniors on the 2021 women's lacrosse team have selected their Most Valuable Professors to recognize this season.

The Hornets selected Dr. Blaine Moore, Professor Lanny Potts, Professor Daniel Kim, Dr. Jessica Stachowski, Dr. Patrik Hultberg, and Dr. Sara Tanis.

Senior Lilly Baumann selected Dr. Blaine Moore from the Biology Department to recognize as her MVP. Dr. Blaine Moore has been selected by at least one student-athlete each season this year. Lilly appreciates Dr. Moore for believing in his students and pushing them to do their best. The confidence that he placed in her abilities allowed her to gain more confidence in herself while working in the lab and in completing research for her Senior Individualized Project.

Professor Lanny Potts from the Theatre Department was selected by senior Gwen Davis. Gwen is grateful for Professor Potts' guidance throughout her experience in theatre lighting over the last four years. He recognizes her abilities and allows her to use her creative energy freely, expanding her learning experience. Gwen appreciates Professor Potts' sense of humor and his ability to create special learning moments.

Senior Bekah Halley selected Professor Daniel Kim from the Film Department as her Most Valuable Professor. She is thankful that he opened her eyes to something brand new and helped to cultivate her passion for filmmaking. She appreciates him always pushing her to strive to be better, thus forcing her to enhance her skills. Bekah attributes her pursuit of a career in videography and filmmaking to Professor Kim.

Dr. Jessica Stachowski from the Chemistry Department was selected by senior Rachel Madar. Rachel claims Dr. Stachowski is the best professor she has ever had. She is grateful for the challenging, yet exciting classes. Rachel learned the lesson of how hard work and critical thinking pays off and she attributes much of this learning experience to Dr. Stachowski. Rachel claims Dr. Stachowski is a great role model and she is so grateful for the time they got to spend together in the classroom.

Senior Leah Tardiff selected Dr. Patrik Hultberg from the Business & Economics Department as her MVP. Dr. Hultberg has been a great mentor to Leah during her academic career and she is grateful that he shared his passion and expertise with her. She appreciates him always challenging her to think about complicated concepts in new ways. His encouragement has been incredibly valuable to Leah.

Dr. Sara Tanis from the Biology Department was selected by seniors Jordan Reichenbach and Hannah Wolfe. Jordan selected Dr. Tanis because she helped cultivate Jordan's love for ecology and environmental science. She appreciates Dr Tanis' passion for the subject matter which, in turn, always made class exciting for Jordan. Hannah claims Dr. Tanis is her all-time favorite professor and mentor. She is amazed by Dr. Tanis' ability to adapt course material to meet the needs of each student individually. This allowed for Hannah to deepen her knowledge of the subject matter. Hannah also appreciates Dr. Tanis as a very welcoming professor and a selfless person.

Kalamazoo College senior athletes have the opportunity to recognize their Most Valuable Professors throughout the 2021 season.
