Women's Lacrosse Defeated at Albion

ALBION, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse team lost in the quarterfinals of the MIAA Tournament on Saturday night, dropping a 14-10 decision to No. 4 Albion. 

Albion went up 2-0 before the Hornets first got on the board with a goal from Rachel Madar. Madar ended up scoring both goals for Kalamazoo in the first half, her second successful shot coming at 9:23. The Brits went on to outscore the Hornets 6-2 in the first 30 minutes. 

The home team again drew first in the second half with three straight goals in five minutes before Rose Bogard broke up the streak when she scored at 24:52. Both teams scored eight goals in the second half. Leah Tardiff and Hannah Heeren scored back-to-back goals at the 16-minute mark, and at one point the Hornets came up with four straight unanswered goals- three in a row from Madar and one at 5:08 by Jordan Reichenbach

Rachel Madar led the Hornets with six goals on 14 shots. She also won a game-high 13 draw controls. 

Leah Tardiff, Hannah Heeren, Jordan Reichenbach and Rose Bogard rounded out scoring for Kalamazoo with one goal each. Bogard and Tardiff each had assists. 

Gwen Davis tallied 11 saves in goal for the Hornets. 

Kalamazoo ends the 2021 season with a 6-8 overall record, 3-4 in conference play.
