Women's Lacrosse Falls at Albion

ALBION, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse team lost 13-6 at Albion College Friday evening.

Albion led 2-1 midway through the first quarter before scoring three times in less than two minutes to take a 5-1 lead at the end of one.

Kalamazoo rallied back, scoring the only three goals in the second quarter to trail 5-4 at halftime.

Albion scored early in the third and again midway through to lead 7-4. The Britons then scored twice in the final 40 seconds to lead 9-4 after three quarters. Albion outscored Kalamazoo 4-2 in the fourth leading to the 13-6 final.

Albion outshot Kalamazoo 31-22 overall, 28-15 on goal. The Britons held an advantage in draw controls (12-10) and ground balls (27-26), while turning the ball over less than the Hornets (27-18).

Hannah Heeren led the Hornets with three goals, one assist, five draw controls, three caused turnovers and two ground balls.

Ella Spooner scored twice. Natalie Maki scored a goal and had an assist.

Elena Basso and Emma Curcuru shared team-highs with four ground balls apiece.

Kalamazoo returns home to face Alma College on Tuesday, April 25, at 7 p.m.
