The Kalamazoo College women's soccer team took down Trine University 2-0 on Wednesday night. The Hornets move to 8-3-1 this season, and 5-3-1 in conference play.

Kalamazoo dominated possession of the ball for a large part of the game. The Hornets led the Thunder in shots 26-5. If it wasn't for a few near misses, Kalamazoo might've won the game by an even larger margin.

"Getting on the board early was huge tonight," said head coach Bryan Goyings.

The Hornets got out of the gate extremely early, with Madison Moote scoring a header off a free kick in the fourth minute from Katie Sorensen. That wouldn't be it for Katie Sorensen's night. In the 84th minute Sorensen placed another beautiful corner kick which resulted in a header goal for Paige Sambor.

Defensively, Kalamazoo continued its solid play only allowing the Thunder two shots on goal. Both shots were saved by Lucy Mailing. Mailing got into a collision with both a Hornet and Thunder player in the game's final three minutes but still managed to make the save despite getting knocked off her feet. It was Kalamazoo's seventh shutout victory of the season.

The women have a very quick turnaround as they'll face conference opponent Saint Mary's (Ind.) in Kalamazoo on Friday, October 10.
