The Kalamazoo College women's soccer team beat Saint Mary's (Ind.) 1-0 on Friday night. It's the second victory in a row for the women as they move to 9-3-1 overall this season, and 6-3-1 in conference play.

"It feels really good to come out and get two wins and six points in our first two games in the second half of conference play," said head coach Bryan Goyings.

The Hornets have now swept the Belles this regular season after defeating them 2-1 on the road just under a month ago.

Maria Rich had the play of the match as she displayed excellent dribbling skills while dodging through three different Belle defenders and striking the ball in for a goal. Paige Sambor also was strong offensively with two good looking shots on goal.

It was another shutout victory for Kalamazoo, the team's eighth of the year. The Hornets have outscored their opponents 9-0 in their last five victories. The team once again allowed very few opportunities to score, with the Belles only attempting two shots on goal. Lucy Mailing had two more saves bringing her MIAA best goals against average down to 0.45.

Kalamazoo will play its next game Tuesday, Oct. 14 on the road against conference opponent Olivet. The last time the two teams played earlier this season the Hornets won 3-0.
