Despite outshooting Olivet College 18-7 in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association match Saturday afternoon, the Kalamazoo College women's soccer team was unable to come away with a road victory. The Hornets fell to the Comets, 2-0.

Olivet's Madeline Maxwell scored the first goal of the game just six minutes before halftime and the Comets carried the 1-0 lead with them to the halftime break.

Emma Essen added Olivet's second goal of the game in the 60th minute.

Kalamazoo placed nine shots on frame, but was unable to get itself on the scoreboard.

"It was disappointing to not get a result as I felt we really applied some strong offensive pressure throughout the match," Kalamazoo Head Coach Bryan Goyings said. "Their goalkeeper played well and we could not find the back of the net.

"Paige Sambor and Allie Brodsky did well winning and defending in the midfield. Despite the loss I thought there were many positives to take away from today."

With the loss, Kalamazoo falls to 4-3-1 in the MIAA and will look to get back on track at home on Wednesday, Oct. 7 when Hope travels to K. The game is set for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
