KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Winners of its last four games, the Kalamazoo College women's soccer team looked as composed and poised as ever Tuesday evening as the Hornets extending their winning streak to five by defeating the visitors from Adrian College, 3-0.

Kalamazoo, now 5-0-1 in the MIAA, got itself off to a quick start in the 20th minute of play. Sarah George found time and space 25 yards away from goal and ripped a shot over the Adrian keeper from the right side of the field.

Emma Tardiff added to the Hornets total late in the first half on a great individual effort. After a ball was lofted over the Adrian backline, Tardiff chased down the central defender and beat the keeper to a 50-50 ball, ultimately getting the final touch on a ball that trickled over the goal line.

Holding a 12-1 advantage in shots at halftime, Kalamazoo continued to press in the second half and held the vast majority of possession. Tardiff found herself on the end of another goal in the 86th minute after Elizabeth Clevenger won a tackle inside the penalty area and slotted a ball across the top of the six.

"Emma just has a nose for goal," Kalamazoo Head Coach Bryan Goyings said. "She just knows how to finish her chances. Her pressure on the opponent earned the first goal and the second one was a superb one time finish on a serve from Clevenger."

The Hornets held the Bulldogs without a shot in the second half, and in total, outshot the Bulldogs 26-1.

Grace Smith recorded one save and picked up her second clean sheet of the season and Goyings was quick to also credit the play of the team's backline.

"I thought we had some outstanding individual defending tonight," he said. "Christina Dandar, Madison Vallan, Sarah George and Katie Sorensen did an excellent job of limiting Adrian's attack throughout the match."

After today's results from around the MIAA, Kalamazoo now sits atop the table in first place. The Hornets have a full week off from competition before they welcome Albion to MacKenzie Field on Wednesday, Sept. 28.
