NOTRE DAME, Ind. – It was a milestone afternoon for the Kalamazoo College women's soccer team Wednesday on the campus of St. Mary's College. Not only did the Hornets win their 10th straight to remain unbeaten in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association, they also won their 400th game in program history with a lopsided 8-0 victory over the Belles.

"Often times we refer to victories as a team win—this afternoon was a program win," Kalamazoo Head Coach Bryan Goyings said. "There are so many people ranging from parents, athletic trainers, coaches and administrators that were able to get us to this point. Most importantly, though, are the players that have invested themselves in the program. I am both proud and grateful to be the coach of such a tremendous group of young women that were able to represent the program in such fine fashion this afternoon."

Kalamazoo started the match relatively slow in terms of scoring with Rosella LoChirco tacking on the Hornets lone goal in the first 40 minutes of play. But in the first half's final five minutes, Libby Munoz tacked on back-to-back goals giving K a 3-0 lead at the break.

Madison Moote helped the Hornets maintain their momentum from the first half as she added the Hornets' fourth goal of the game less than three minutes into the second 45 minutes of play.

Four more goals down the stretch, including two from Suzanne Miller, another from Moote and one from the team's leading goal scorer, Emma Tardiff, solidified a historic day.

On top of Moote's two goals, the junior forward also led the team with two assists on the afternoon.

Kalamazoo surrendered just a single shot while recording 34 of its own.

"We will enjoy win 400 but it will be important to regroup and refocus tomorrow," Goyings said.

The Hornets wrap up a short two-game road stint this Saturday, Oct. 15 when they travel to Calvin College for a 12 p.m. kick.
