AURORA, Ill. - The Kalamazoo College women's soccer team won its season opener 2-0 over Hanover College on Friday.
Libby Munoz put the Hornets on the board in the 42nd minute with a tap-in goal off an assist from Joy Hunziker.
Sarah George made it 2-0 early in the second half (54th minute) with a goal off a free kick.
Kalamazoo outshot Hanover 17-3 overall, including 6-2 on goal.
Maddie Odom and Hannah Wolfe split time in goal with each recording one save in the combined shutout.
"It is always nice to start the season off with a win," said Kalamazoo Head Coach Bryan Goyings. "I was very proud of our competitiveness and defending throughout the match."
The Hornets return to action on Sunday, Sept. 3 against Otterbein University at 1 p.m. EDT at Aurora.
