GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's soccer team dropped its opening game of conference play 2-1 to Calvin on the road Wednesday evening.

K fell behind early, giving up a goal just three minutes into the first half when Kali Mouw scored off an assist from Emily Van Vliet. The Hornets fought back to tie the game 10 minutes into the second half as Josie Sibley scored her first goal of the season, finishing off a pass from Madison Vallan

Calvin broke through again with 10 minutes remaining in the game with Bekah Maguire scoring the game winner for the Knights. Maddie Odom and Hannah Wolfe combined to take the loss in goal for the Hornets.

Coach Bryan Goyings was encouraged by his team's effort, saying, "It was disappointing to give up the early goal, but I was pleased with how we responded. As the game went on I thought we continued to play well and Josie had a tremendous finish to tie the game up."

The Hornets will return to conference play on Saturday when they face Saint Mary's at 12 p.m. at MacKenzie Field.
