KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's soccer team handed Hope its first defeat of the season Thursday night at MacKenzie Field, winning 1-0 in a tense game that was decided in the final seconds.

The game was scoreless through 89 minutes, with strong defending by both teams limiting the attacking opportunities for either side. Both Kalamazoo's goalkeeper Hannah Wolfe and Hope's goalkeeper Jordanne Ellingboe were forced to make one or two big saves to keep the game tied 0-0, but neither team was able to break through until Libby Munoz picked up the ball for K in Hope's half with 30 seconds remaining on the clock. Munoz beat a defender and finished over Ellingboe's head to win the game for the Hornets, who improve to 4-2-0 overall and 3-1-0 in MIAA play.

Coach Bryan Goyings said, "I was proud of the team's preparation and execution. We discussed that the team that made the most of their opportunities would get the result and we did that."

Hannah Wolfe made five saves in goal to earn the shutout for Kalamazoo.

K returns to conference play on Sunday on the road at Trine at 12 p.m.
