Women's Soccer wins 2-0 on Senior Night

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's soccer team shut out Trine 2-0 to earn a win on Senior Night Wednesday at Mackenzie Field.

K put pressure on the Thunder backline throughout the game, finishing with a 19-9 advantage in shots, but they were not able to find a breakthrough until the 40th minute. Libby Munoz capitalized on a rebound given up by the Trine keeper to open the scoring and give K a 1-0 lead. It did not take Munoz long to find the back of the net again as just 44 seconds later she settled a cross from Joy Hunziker at the near post and blasted the ball into the Trine goal for her 16th goal of the season.

K continued to pressure the Trine goal throughout the second half as Madison Moote struck the crossbar with a header and Allison Shaw hit a shot off of the post. Hannah Wolfe made two saves to back up the Kalamazoo defense and secure the shutout.

Coach Bryan Goyings said, "I was proud of the effort from the group tonight. Senior Night can be full of emotions and this was a solid team win. I thought all of our seniors on the field tonight, Ella, Christina, Maddie, and Zoe, had a notable impact on the game."

The Hornets will return to the field for Homecoming on Saturday at 12 p.m. as they take on Albion.
