Women's Soccer draws with Albion

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's soccer team drew with Albion 2-2 on Saturday at MacKenzie Field on Homecoming.

Albion opened the scoring just 30 seconds before halftime when Emily Wolford capitalized on a mishit by the Kalamazoo backline to put Albion up 1-0. K applied consistent pressure to the Albion goal as they looked for the equalizer, finishing the game with 23 shots, 10 of which were on goal. The Hornets broke through in the 63rd minute when Libby Munoz was taken down in the Albion penalty area and then converted the ensuing penalty kick to level the game at 1-1.

Munoz struck again in the 73rd minute to give K its first lead of game as she scored from 20 yards out to bring her season total to 18 goals, which is tops in the MIAA. The lead held for 10 minutes before Emily Britton lofted a shot into far corner of the Kalamazoo net to bring the score to 2-2.

Despite attacking chances for both teams, including a shot by Libby Munoz that had to be tipped over the crossbar in the final seconds of overtime, neither team could find the decisive goal and the game ended in a draw.

Hannah Wolfe six saves in goal for the Hornets, including an strong touch over the crossbar to deny Albion on a second half free kick.

The Hornets will travel to Adrian on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
