CHICAGO, Ill. - The Kalamazoo College women's soccer team won 5-2 at Concordia-Chicago on Wednesday.

The Hornets got out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first half thanks to goals from Kai Ketola and Emme DeConnick. Joy Hunziker, Sarah George and Julie Zabik were each credited with assists.

Kalamazoo extended its lead early in the second half with two more goals by Ketola and Josie Sibley. Freshman Larkin O'Gorman assisted on Sibley's goal.

The teams finished the game by trading goals starting with Concordia-Chicago's first goal by Cecilia Kochanek. MIAA Player of the Week Joy Hunziker responded for the Hornets with the team's fifth and final goal of the match. Sydney Rainey connected on the last goal for the Cougars in the 82nd minute.

The Hornets had full control of the match by out-shooting the Cougars 17 to 4 and had a 13 to 3 advantage in shots on goal.

Coach Byran Goyings said, "Concordia was an organized team and I thought our persistence as a unit was key. Kai (Ketola) had an excellent game and it was a superb individual effort in her second one. Using these final non-conference games to prepare for MIAA play will be key to meeting our potential as a team."

Kalamazoo returns home to MacKenzie Field on Saturday, September 15 for a match with Wooster at 12 p.m.
