Lexi Nesbitt of the Kalamazoo College women's soccer team was selected as the MIAA Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week on Monday (Oct. 31). This is the first career player of the week honor for the senior.

The women's soccer team advanced to the MIAA Tournament this past weekend as the sixth seed. Kalamazoo traveled to face Hope, the third seed in the tournament. The Hornets and Flying Dutch were scoreless through the first 90 minutes, sending the game into overtime. Hope came through with the only goal, advancing to the semifinals after a 1-0 double-overtime game.

However, Nesbitt did all she could to keep the score tied at zero, collecting a career-high 20 saves in the 110 minutes. This set a new single-game record for most saves in an MIAA Tournament game, previously held by Chayna Wallace from Adrian. In 2012, Wallace had 14 saves against Calvin and held the record for 10 years. Nesbitt's previous career-high for saves in a game was eight, which happened twice in the 2021 season.

For 2022, Nesbitt started in all 16 games for the Hornets, collecting a 6-7-3 record with four shutouts. In 1,460 minutes, she had a 1.36 goals-against average, a .768 save percentage, and 73 saves. The senior captain finished her Kalamazoo career with a 1.19 GAA, an .807 save percentage, 117 saves, and eight shutouts in 25 games.
