Women's Swimming & Diving Finishes Third at Michigan-Illinois Quad

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's swimming and diving team participated in the Michigan-Illinois Quad on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 14). The Hornets competed against Hope, Lake Forest, and Wheaton at the meet, finishing third with 427 points. The Flying Dutch finished first at 669 points, Lake Forest narrowly came in second at 432 points, and Wheaton finished fourth with 390 points.

Kalamazoo had 19 top-eight finishes in the 13 events. The Hornets had three top-eight finishers in the 1-meter dive, with Sam Vande Pol coming in fourth (377.75 points), Sarah Densham finishing sixth (374.45 points), and Sofie Santos coming in eighth (347 points). Vande Pol ended up third (229.7) in the 3-meter dive, with Densham coming in sixth (215 points).

The Hornets had two teams each compete in the two relays, beginning with the 400 Medley Relay. Camille Misra, Mary Muenzenmaier, Anni Schnell, and Mya Richter came in fifth at 4:08.2, while Lena Klemm, Elizabeth Muenzenmaier, Katie Larick, and Annika Canavero finished eighth with a time of 4:28.71. Kalamazoo had the same finishes in the 400 Free Relay as Olivia Bagwell, Frannie Turner, Lizzy Silber, and Richter had a time of 3:51.22, and Kelsey Logsdon, Ava Williams, Katie Rock, and Klemm came in at 4:02.81.

Kalamazoo had one first-place finisher on the day as Misra finished the 200 Back with a time of 2:10.57. She also came in third in the 50 Free at 25.28, while Schnell finished sixth at 25.71. Schnell also had two top-eight finishes, coming in seventh in the 200 Fly at 2:29.38. The Hornets had a trio of fourth-place finishers, with Rock in the 1000 Free (11:33.03), Turner in the 200 Fly (2:21.28), and Richter in the 100 Free (57.21). Rounding the top-eight finishes was a sixth-place finish for Silber in the 500 Free (5:38.29), a seventh-place finish for Rock in the 500 Free (5:41.76), and an eighth-place finish for Turner in the 200 IM (2:22.21).

The Hornets will next compete in the Hope Tri-Meet that will include Olivet on Friday (Jan. 20), beginning at 6 p.m.
