Paul Hughes joined the Kalamazoo College coaching staff in 2013-14 as assistant men’s and women’s swimming coach.

Hughes came to Kalamazoo from the University of Puget Sound where he served as the assistant swimming coach and recruitment coordinator during the 2012-13 season. Hughes is a 2009 graduate of Puget Sound where he majored in politics and government with a minor in history while swimming all four years for the Loggers. He was team captain from 2007-09 and a member of the school's record-holding 200 freestyle, 200 medley and 400 medley relays. He earned All-American honors his senior year in the 200 medley relay and the 100 yard breaststroke with the second fastest time in that event in school history.

In addition to his coaching experience at Puget Sound, Hughes served as an assistant coach at Stadium High School in Tacoma, Wash. He also has coached with Metro Aquatics of Tacoma.
