Women's Tennis loses 2017 opener to Kenyon

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's tennis team lost its 2017 opener 7-2 to No. 24 Kenyon in the Markin Center on Sunday.

The doubles matches were competitive but the visiting Ladies of Kenyon emerged victorious in all three, including an 8-6 win at No. 2.

Maria Franco earned a win for the Hornets at No. 1 singles over 47th-ranked Diana Aboubakare, 7-5, 6-3.

Eloise Germic earned the second point for Kalamazoo with a 6-3, 7-6(7) win at five singles.

Kalamazoo entered the match ranked 17th in the region while Kenyon is ranked sixth.

Kalamazoo returns to action on Friday, Feb. 17 at Oberlin.
