Oswalt wins MIAA Player of the Week

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – In a release from the conference today, Alex Oswalt has been named the MIAA Player of the Week for women's tennis.

Oswalt, a senior from Vicksburg, was undefeated in her matches on Friday in a narrow 5-4 loss to John Carroll. Oswalt and teammate Lisa Johnston combined for a 9-7 victory at two doubles to earn K's first point of the contest.

At five singles, Oswalt was again victorious, winning 6-3, 6-3 to grab another important point for the Hornets.

The loss to John Carroll marks the second time this season that Oswalt has won both her doubles and singles matches against one opponent having also accomplished the feat in the team's opener against Baldwin Wallace.

This is the first MIAA Player of the Week honor for Oswalt. The senior captain has been an MIAA Honor Roll and ITA Scholar Athlete honoree in each of her seasons at K.

Women's tennis will return to action on Friday, Feb. 16th with a home contest against Ohio Northern beginning at 7 p.m.
