Women's Tennis Wins at Calvin

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's tennis team won 6-3 at Calvin on Wednesday.

Kalamazoo entered the match ranked No. 18 in the region while the host Knights were ranked No. 19.

Kalamazoo won two of the three doubles matched before winning four of the six singles matches.

Maddy Winarski and Ella Knight won 8-1 at three doubles to lead things off. After an 8-5 win by Calvin at one doubles, Helen Pelak and Caroline Norton won 8-7(5) at two to give the Hornets the lead.

Knight (5) and Norton (4) won in straight sets to put Kalamazoo up 4-1. Calvin won at one singles to make it 4-2 before the Hornets clinched the match with Winarski's 6-2, 7-6(7) win at two.

Sonal Bahl earned Kalamazoo's sixth point with a 7-5, 7-5 win at six.

Kalamazoo remains in second place in the MIAA with a 6-1 league record. The Hornets close out the regular season at Adrian on Saturday, April 27 at 1 p.m.
