Winarski Named MIAA Player of the Week

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Maddy Winarski of the Kalamazoo College women's tennis team was honored by the MIAA on Monday as the Player of the Week.

Winarski, a sophomore from Rochester Hills, Mich. (Notre Dame Prep), collected three wins at No. 2 singles in Kalamazoo's three match week against Trine (6-2, 6-0), Calvin (6-2, 7-6), and Adrian (6-1, 6-0). 

The sophomore also paired with Ella Knight at three doubles against Trine and Calvin to finish her week with a 5-0 record. 

Winarski has now won her last seven singles matches. She owns a 15-5 overall record this season at two singles and has won seven of her eight MIAA matches. 

This marks the second time in her career that Winarski has been named Player of the Week by the MIAA. She was also named to the All-MIAA Frist Team as a freshman. 

The Hornets will host Saint Mary's in an MIAA Tournament Semifinal on Wednesday, May 1 at 4 p.m.
