KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Madi Goodman was named MIAA Volleyball Player of the Week due to her efforts in Kalamazoo's matches against Saint Mary's and Adrian.

Goodman, a sophomore from Portage, Mich. (Portage Central HS), led the team with 15 kills in both matches this week. Her efforts led the Hornets to their first conference win of the season over Adrian.

Along with her 30 total kills, Goodman added seven digs and five blocks from the middle hitter position.

Goodman has been instrumental for the Kalamazoo front line all season. Her 274 kills are first on the team and eighth in the MIAA. She also finished second on the team in blocks with 50.

Coach Jeanne Hess said, "I am so very proud of Madi's athletic performance this week, and this entire season, in addition to her growth as a student-athlete during her career so far at Kalamazoo College. She is certainly an offensive force for us, in addition to being one of the most competitive players I have ever coached. Madi demands a level of excellence and intensity from herself and her teammates that goes above and beyond current expectations. To honor Madi in this way is a step forward for K Volleyball."

Kalamazoo's match with Adrian was the final match of it's season. The Hornets will travel with the men's soccer team to South Africa for a 12-day trip over Kalamazoo's break between the fall and winter terms.
