Rachel Girard of the Kalamazoo College volleyball team was named Hornet of the Week by the Kalamazoo College Athletic Leadership Council on Tuesday.
Girard, a senior from Ann Arbor, Mich. (Gabriel Richard HS), ended her collegiate career on a high note late week. Her two double-doubles led Kalamazoo to a 1-1 record on the week and allowed the Hornets to pick up their first MIAA win of the season.
In Kalamazoo's loss to Saint Mary's at the start of the week, Girard logged 10 kills and added 16 digs. Her four blocks in the match were tied for the lead for Kalamazoo in the match.
During the season ending win over Adrian, the outside hitter converted on 14 of her hitting opportunitied and collected 24 digs.
This marks the first time Girard has been named Hornet of the Week by the ALC.
Her 230 kills and 220 digs this season finished her in second on the team in each category.
