Swimming & Diving Seniors Honor Most Valuable Professors

The seniors on the 2020-2021 Kalamazoo College swimming & diving teams have selected their Most Valuable Professors to recognize this season.

The Hornets selected Dr. Jennifer Furchak, Dr. Hannah Apps, Dr. Siu-Lan Tan, and Dr. Pam Cutter.

Senior Matt Howrey selected Dr. Jennifer Furchak from the Chemistry Department to recognize as his MVP. Matt chose Dr. Furchak to honor because she was always interested in Matt's learning progress and helped to make the subject more enjoyable. He feels that she genuinely cares about all her students' well-being and growth. Matt greatly appreciates the effort that Dr. Furchak puts forth for her students.

Dr. Hannah Apps from the Economics Department was selected by senior John Crane. This is Dr. Apps' second selection this season. John praises Dr. Apps for her guidance throughout his academic career. He appreciates her flexibility and understanding of the struggles of learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. John is grateful for everything she has done to help him prepare for life after graduation.

Senior Molly Roberts selected Dr. Siu-Lan Tan from the Psychology Department as her MVP. Molly claims that on top of being a professor, Dr. Tan is also a mentor, a support system, and a great hype woman. She sets a great example of someone Molly aspires to be like. Molly appreciates Dr. Tan's desire to help her students succeed, but she is most thankful for her unrelenting kindness. Molly will forever carry Dr. Tan's invaluable pieces of advice.

Dr. Pam Cutter from the Computer Science Department was selected by senior Max Ambs. Max describes Dr. Cutter as helpful and accommodating to her students. He appreciates her efforts in nurturing his learning and inspiring him to pursue his major in computer science. Max is grateful for the opportunity to have learned from Dr. Cutter and thanks her for showing him how to enjoy the learning process.

Kalamazoo College senior athletes have the opportunity to recognize their Most Valuable Professors throughout the 2020-2021 season.
