Runners Compete at MIAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships

ALMA, Mich. - Members of the Kalamazoo College men's and women's cross country teams competed in two distance events at the MIAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday.

In the men's 1500 meter, Patrick Dunfee posted the top time for the Hornets at 4:51.43 to finish 19th overall. Zach Ufkes was 20th at 4:59.01. Oliver Rubin was 22nd at 5:06.54.

In the women's 1500 meter, Anna Varitek just missed a podium spot with a ninth-place finish and personal record time of 4:58.54. Haleigh Nower finished 17th (5:50.86), Emily Haigh 19th (6:15.49), and Quinn Collins 20th (6:15.89).

Patrick Dunfee competed in the 5000 meter where he finished 24th with a time of 18:19.92.

Rachael Gallap placed fifth in the women's 5000 meter with a personal record time of 18:26.29. Aliza Garcia was 13th (20:41.61), Annalis Bailey 15th (20:54.94), and Hannah Schurman 17th (21:20.78). 

Every Kalamazoo College runner ran a personal best and outperformed their seed placing at the event.
