Catching Up With Our Competing Sports
Men's Basketball
The men last played their 2022-23 home opener against Oberlin on Nov. 19 after not playing last week. Josh Decker is the leading point scorer early on, with 16.7 points per game while shooting 43.8% from the floor, 52% from three-point land, and 90% from the free throw line. Lukas Broadsword (14.3), Nicholas Olmeda (12.5), DJ Courtney (11), and Ty Horky (10) are also averaging double figures in the scoring column. Kalamazoo has one game this week with a road contest at Chicago on Wednesday (Nov. 30).
Women's Basketball
The women had two games this past week, playing Manchester at home on Nov. 26 and then traveling to Eureka on Nov. 27. The Hornets fell in both contests, 77-34 against the Spartans and 80-34 to the Red Devils. Kaelyn Arlington collected her seventh career double-double in the first game by securing 13 points and 10 rebounds. She also hauled in 16 rebounds in game two, while Macy Ivins was the leading scorer with 11 points. Kalamazoo will begin MIAA play this week with a road game against Olivet on Wednesday (Nov. 30) and a home game against Alma on Saturday (Dec. 3).
Men's Swimming & Diving
The men last participated in the Kalamazoo Tri-Meet with Calvin and Olivet at the Natatorium on Nov. 11. The Hornets defeated the Comets 185-48 before falling to the Knights 174-68. Kalamazoo next competes in the three-day Calvin Invitational on Thursday-Saturday (Dec. 1-3).
Women's Swimming & Diving
The women also split with Calvin and Olivet at the Kalamazoo Tri-Meet, defeating the Comets 176-54 and dropping to the Knights 149-88. The Hornets compete next in the three-day Calvin Invitational on Thursday -Saturday (Dec. 1-3).
