Baseball Splits Series Finale With Olivet

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College baseball team split the final doubleheader wtih Olivet at Woodworth Field on Sunday. Kalamazoo lost the opener 15-11 before winning the finale 6-2.

Game One

Olivet won the first game, 15-11. The Comets used a six-run second inning to take an early lead. Olivet led 15-5 in the seventh when the Hornets scored six runs before finally being retired.

Olivet had 13 hits compared to 10 by Kalamazoo.

Spencer Baldwin had three hits in the game. Doug Propson had two hits with a triple and two RBIs. Amani Karim had two hits with three RBIs. Chase Coselman had a home run with two RBIs.

Game Two

Kalamazoo trailed 2-0 after the first but scored three in the third and three in the sixth while holding Olivet scoreless the final six innings.

Kalamazoo had eight hits compared to five by Olivet.

Harrison Poeszat had two hits including a double and an RBI. Doug Propson homered with two RBIs. Chase Coselman had a double. Spencer Baldwin drove in two runs.

Adam Dorstewitz struck out five in 4 1/3 innings while earning the win. Propson struck out six while allowing just one hit in 2 2/3 innings of relief with the save.

Kalamazoo is scheduled to travel to Calvin for a single, non-conference game on Tuesday, April 27 at 4 p.m.
