Baseball Improves to 4-0 with Sunday Sweep of Manchester

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Kalamazoo College baseball team improved to 4-0 with a Sunday sweep of Manchester University, 15-1 and 8-6. The Hornets defeated the Spartans 19-6 and 13-5 on Saturday.

Game One

Kalamazoo scored at least one run in each of the first four innings to lead 8-1 after four. The Hornets added three in the sixth and four in the seventh for the 15-1 win.

Kalamazoo put 16 hits on the board while three Hornet pitchers combined to allow just two hits by the Spartans.

Blake Bean went 3-for-3 while breaking school records with three home runs and eight RBIs. 

Doug Propson was 4-for-4 with a home run, double and three RBIs. Propson also went six innings on the mound, allowing just one run on two hits while striking out five.

Noah Hecht and Lukas Bolton each finished with two hits in the game.

Game Two

Kalamazoo completed the doubleheader sweep and four-game sweep with an 8-6 win in game two on Sunday. The Hornets finished with seven hits compared to nine by the Spartans.

Kalamazoo led 5-2 after two innings, and 5-4 after three. Kalamazoo added a run in the fifth and two in the sixth before allowing two in the bottom of the seventh.

Spencer Baldwin and Ben Chosid each had two hits for the Hornets. Baldwin had a triple while Blake Bean had a double.

The Hornets (4-0) travel to Tucson, Ariz. for eight scheduled games during spring break beginning March 17.
