Baseball Splits Doubleheader at Adrian

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College baseball team split a doubleheader at Adrian on Saturday, winning 14-5 before falling 12-6.

Game One

Kalamazoo won the first game 14-5. The Hornets led 10-2 after five and 12-2 in the seventh before Adrian scored three in the bottom of the seventh. Kalamazoo added two runs in the top of the ninth.

Kalamazoo had 18 hits in the game compared to nine by Adrian.

Noah Hecht had three hits with two RBIs. Spencer Baldwin also had three hits with an RBI.

Blake Bean had a double and a triple.

Thomas Sylvester earned the win with four strikeouts in five innings.

The win secured a second-place finish for the Hornets in the MIAA regular season and a home tournament game on Wednesday, May 11.

Game Two

Kalamazoo led 4-3 after three innings, but a three-run fifth by Adrian put the Bulldogs on top. Kalamazoo tied it up at 6-6 in the top of the seventh, but four runs in the bottom half by Adrian and two more in the eighth made it the 12-6 final.

Adrian had 15 hits compared to eight by Kalamazoo.

Doug Propson had two hits with two RBIs. Spencer Baldwin hit a two-run home run in the first inning.

Kalamazoo and Adrian wrap up the series with a single game in Kalamazoo on Sunday with a 1 p.m. start.
