Football Places Five on All-MIAA Teams

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - In a release by the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association on Wednesday morning, five Kalamazoo College football players were named to All-MIAA teams.

Noah Coplan and Taylor Jackson were named First Team Defense. Bubba Wilson was the lone member of the Second Team Offensive group while Jacob Chantres and Jake Osen were honored as Second Team Defense. 

Coplan, a senior from River Forest, Ill. (Oak Park & River Forest HS) made the First Team for the third time in his career as a Hornet. The defensive lineman totaled nine tackles over two games in the shortened 2021 season. Last year Coplan recorded 56 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks. 

Jackson is a senior linebacker from Owosso, Mich. (Corunna HS). He led the Hornets this season with 21 total tackles, recording 10.5 over two games, 12 of which were solo hits. He also contributed 1.5 tackles for loss. His 14 total tackles against Alma on March 27 were a new career-high in a single game for Jackson. 

Rounding out the defensive honors for the Hornets were Chantres and Osen. Both defenders are seniors hailing from Livonia, Mich. (Churchill HS). Chantres was second on the team in total tackles, recording 18 with 11 solo tackles. His 9.0 tackles per game was also a runner-up for best on the team. Osen was an all-around defender as he tallied four tackles, three made solo. He nabbed one interception in the game at Olivet on March 21. 

Wilson is a sophomore wide receiver from Muskegon, Mich. (Muskegon HS). In his second season with the Hornets he led all receivers with 17 receptions for 152 total yards. He scored one of two touchdowns for the Hornets in the short season, a 50-yard catch from Brendan Gausslin at Olivet. At Alma on March 27, he totaled a new career-high with 11 catches in the game.
