Kalamazoo College football's Bubba Wilson was named the SAAC Men's Hornet of the Week on Tuesday (Sept. 13).
Wilson helped lead the Hornets to their first 2-0 starts since 2018 with a 24-21 win over Kenyon. Kalamazoo fell behind twice in the game when Kenyon held 7-0 and 14-10 leads, but the team was resilient and pulled out the victory.
Wilson had the most receptions and yards among all Hornets' receivers. On the seven targets Wilson had on the day, he hauled in four catches for 98 yards and a touchdown. The touchdown was a 73-yard reception, the longest of his career. Quarterback Josh Nichols showed his trust in Wilson as two of his other three catches resulted in a first down for the Hornets.
So far this season, Wilson has five receptions for 139 yards and two touchdowns, leading the Hornets in all three categories. He is also closing in on the 100 career reception mark, currently at 89 for 1,153 yards and 11 touchdowns in the last four seasons.
Kalamazoo will travel to Defiance for its first road game of the 2022 season. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. in Defiance, Ohio.
